Scopes vs. The State of Tennessee – Scopes Monkey Trial

 Scopes Monkey Trial

The Scopes Trial—formally known as State v. Scopes, Scopes v. State, 152 Tenn. 424, 278 S.W. 57 (Tenn. 1926), Scopes vs. The State of Tennessee and informally known as the Scopes Monkey Trial—was an American legal case that tested the Butler Act which made it unlawful “to teach any theory that denies the story of the Divine Creation of man as taught in the Bible, and to teach instead that man has descended from a lower order of animals” in any Tennessee state-funded school and university.[1].

The trial drew intense national publicity, with modernists pitted against traditionalists over the teaching of evolution in the schools and a Fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible. The trial proved a critical turning point in the American creation-evolution controversy.[2]

In Full: Palin’s Tea Party Speech

Ex-Congressman Tom Tancredo Racist Speech At Tea Party

My suggestion to moderate the excess of the Te Party movement is to reverse engineer the Ralph Reed Christian Coalition out of Politics. I propose protests centered around Liberty University and Bob Jones University and the Heritage Foundation to show that they cannot continue to inflame elements of their wings without feeling the heat  themselves? I don’t hate Ronald Reagan, as a matter of fact I always kind of liked him, but he did not realize that he was the only person that could ever control these elements, and once he was gone they just got worse and worse.John McCain couldn’t control them, Ron Paul can’t control them who can??

This has been going on since 1925 (at least, they are rooted in the Anti Catholic Nativist “Know nothing” movement of the mid 19th century)  and the only way to end it is to drive the Far Right fundamentalists back into their churches and stiffen the hate speech laws so they don’t come out again, a high percentage of them are trained in Modern Sales techniques to evangelize and the only way to shut down a good salesman is to hang up the phone? It’s rude, but there is really little choice and they are being scripted and led by Big Business interests because their whole approach to life is scripted by literal interpretation of Scripture.

Reagan made a mistake and moderate Republicans are paying the price as well as anyone else that isn’t on the same page as they are. They are of course free to vote, organize but Scripture doesn’t support Hate speech and Treason and it’s comig out of their circles loud and clear and it’s not being toned down because moderates are afraid of offending the  far right so maybe the left has to do it? However the tent show evangelizing needs to be shoved out of politics unless they can keep the treason and hate speech out. They are making getting anything Obama wants done as hard as getting out of an electronics store, or a car dealership  without buying a service Agreement, probably worse because they think they are doing God’s will, God’s will as told to Dobson ? Jesus lived in a state basically ruled by Rome with force of Arms, I hardly see cause for revolution in scripture over abortion (King Herod had all the 1st born children killed),  and States rights when he didn’t call for revolt against Rome and King Herod, but you would never know listening to the average right-winger. But the rhetoric from texas hint’s at Poll Taxes, Literacy tests to vote, secession and the conservative commentator said it’s driven by the 1/3 of the people who go to church twice a week. You won’t have a civil war in the United States but you might get one in Texas if you aren’t a little more careful about inflaming the nut jobs from the pulpit.Think about it, there are too many liberals in Texas, there are probably too many liberals in Alaska and Oklahoma to secede? You would just get a civil war in your own state, this isn’t 1860. If Churches on the right can’t police themselves and the shooting starts, you think you feel oppressed now, certain sects would probably be listed as terrorist organizations, tone it down for everyone’s sake. What right-wing nut job came up with the idea that it’s not Treason and Anti American to secede from the United States as long as it’s done to help the fundamentalist interpretation of Scripture or impose Biblical Law? And you don’t think the other 49 states won’t be smuggling guns to the Fort Worth Liberals who don’t like the Preachers taking over and the renaming of the streets Bob Jones and Jerry Falwell boulevards or paying taxes to send their kids to Pat Robertson elementary school, get a clue? And besides, the Preachers will try to close the Bars, in  addition to the liberals all the Pentecostals and the Baptists who are a little lax in Church attendance will be mad too? We tried it once it didn’t work then, it won’t work now. I don’t think the average Texan would put up with the Oklahoma liquor laws for one weekend without seceding right back into the United States.

Jimmy Carter ad Al Gore are both Baptists, this isn’t an assault on Baptists, but Liberty University is Baptist, how can they justify barring students from joining a Democratic students organization without basically denying that Carter or Gore are even Christians? The far right needs to be assaulted by Christians as a whole instead of Christians being afraid to contradict them. Otherwise, the assaults come from the far left and the Far Left will go after the Pope, Salt Lake city and religion in general and will turn off more people than they win over. Liberal and Moderate Christians need to target the Right fringe Christians, and Bob Jones University, Liberty University and the Heritage foundation are very effective targets to do this as opposed to Maher sounding off on all religions and getting little traction outside of the Far Left?

It’s no different from the Civil Rights era where most Christians sided with the Civil Rights movement and just a few Far Right Christians (Bob Jones, for example) opposed it, tactics. Otherwise Big Business and Special interest will pour money into the Heritage Foundation to keep the things as they are and use the fringe right as ground troops in their efforts to protect their profits, extremist Free Markets concepts and special interests. Big Business and Neo-cons don’t have the numbers to fight progress without the Far Right Christians so they favor their social concerns and fund them as a trade-off.

You talk about “hate speech” and yet your ingnorant rant is filled with it.

You might need to be concerned, You cannot explain the treatment of Democratic party student organizations in Liberty University under any centrist , moderate Ideology, therefore more extreme measures may be needed, like The Communist International and the National Socialist Party, extremism as seen in Bob Jones and Liberty University needs to be addressed and Ralph Reed and the Christian coalition are at the core and need to be reverse engineered. Denying students the choice of one of the two major political parties is completely unnacceptable in Modern America?Islam doesn’t produce the terrorists by and large, Fundementalism does, it’s the same thing and you can’t see it?I’m merely trying to channel the rage felt by most moderates The children of Jimmy Carter or Al Gore couldn’t support their own fathers with even moderate tolerance because the University says the whole party is “Un Christian” as things are, so I’m trying to funnel the rage of the left at the best targets to produce a change? That kind of extremism leads to the concepts of the “C” street church and actually becomes subversive, just like one world Communism made the Communist Party a suversive organization? Yes, I think it’s time to get these influences out of the GOP and politics at large. Liberty University is saying that Jimmy Carter and Al Gore cannot be Christians as they currently stand, no dissent from their scriptual interpetations is allowed? Yes I am pointing the spotlight on these two organizations as producing the unacceptable positions that generally hinder the GOP in general elections as they also have immense power in the formulation of the ideas adopted by the Heritage Foundation, which ends up being more a mouthpeice for Fundementalists than Conservatives in general. I would suggest Boycotts, sit ins and non-violent protests aimed at these three institutions as the best way to improve the political climate as a whole.

  4. Almost all of whatever you say is supprisingly precise and it makes me ponder the reason why I had not looked at this with this light previously. This piece really did turn the light on for me as far as this specific issue goes. Nonetheless at this time there is 1 point I am not too comfortable with and whilst I attempt to reconcile that with the actual central theme of your point, permit me see what the rest of your subscribers have to say.Well done.
