Putin and China, would dearly love to become the next Great Satan. I think it’s important to hold on to the honorific, as it’s implies a certain relevance, and importance, lost to the old also rans. Stalin made a Great Satan for years, until various lesser Satan’s decided he didn’t need assistance in breathing and let him croak before their eyes (Kruschev, Molotov and Beria no less). How would the Mullahs retain power, with a less menacing Great Satan to rally the base? They remind me of our Social Conservatives, crying to anyone who’ll listen They make fun of our values, and mock our faith!, I rest my case!
