Why am I under the impression that if Michelle Obama consulted Astrologer’s, It would be self evident that this would be one more departure from Christianity to question the very basis of Barack Obama’s personal beliefs, but in the case of Mrs. Reagan it’s just an oddity. Tell me I’m wrong, and this is not all about politics?
Two major issues seem to appear on the Dobson’s Right wing Agenda, Abortion and Gay rights. So I assume that Dobson believes that an immortal soul is created and a dreaming, sentient being would be killed. So since you place the issue at the moment of conception, any deviation is murder, that’s really hard to work around, but isn’t it an opinion that two cells constitute a human life. Then, you have the interpretations that allow you to identify the sexual acts of two consenting adults, behind closed doors as sodomy and morally wrong. I have serious concerns with our constitutional rights being trampled upon by mindsets like yours. I’m not trying to force you into sodomy and abortion, what is your point?
What are you going to do about Joe Lieberman, Mitt Romney and Minister Farrakhan? Is it about shared values, or specific interpetaions of Christian Doctrine? So what happens when the Original Church has some priests who serve Rudi Giuliani the sacraments, and others who will not, what say you about that? The more “Liberation Theology” that Barack Obama has distanced himself from was developed by some in the Catholic Church to deal with the specifically racial and economic issues of full blooded Spanish Oligarchies imposing their will on the more Native American poor and dispossessed, Rev. Wright merely adopted some elements of it in his Protestant mission, it would actually seem that the Catholic Church leaves a little more room for maneuver than you do, and they are fellow conservatives. What exactly do you want, what exactly have you discovered that makes you so infallible? And should not Joe Lieberman and his faith be the ultimate interpreter’s of specifically Old Testament scripture? I’m farther to the left, theologically than Barack Obama, and I would prefer not being called an infidel or whatever from the likes of you? I still feel the longing pull back to the faith from Conservative Catholic Popes, but just fear and loathing for you, sorry, but that’s the truth. I’m a lapsed Lutheran, who remembers asking his minister in confirmation class if the Jews were going to Hell, an answer suitable for that environment, may or may not be suitable in a secular state at large. But my minister became a Bishop, and he went to Rome and He and Pope John Paul seemed to have decided not to place each others followers in the heresy camp and on the way to hell as near as I can figure. Saying to an individual member of your faith that we belive such and such and this person would appear to be in violation of that in private, saying it in a public political setting seems risky from the standpoint of separation of Church and State.
Now lets look at the longing felt on the right for a more patriarchal society. What are we supposed to think of your longing for that direction, when heretical members of the Mormon faith are carrying on the way they do down in Texas and after getting kicked out of Colorado. At the bus stop, members of the Mormon faith routinely try to convert me to the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. The Mormon faith is a proud and valuable member of our great nation and I have no issues with them other than trying to go on my way and be polite. But I see the extension of conservative thought in the antics down in Texas and I associate them with right wing evangelicals (not the established Mormon Church, I know they have renounced these practices) as do many of us. There is some room for more patriarchal faiths, such as yours, the established Mormon Church and the Nation of Islam, but once again are we not seeming to be close to trampling on the rights of an entire Gender? What are we to say, when child brides are a logical extension of these ideas? We are a community that should include the Evangelicals, the Mormons and the Nation of Islam as pillars of their respective communities, but others of us are out here as well, and it’s really easy to associate Warren Jeffs with the right.
I often notice that when I’m with my favorite members of the female gender at the local Mega Wal Mart, waiting as she (bless her heart) examines every single box on the shelf, as if by touching it, she will get more information and more pleasure from the experience. So I’m thinking, if I was Warren Jeffs, I could say “Woman, I want you to make the selection (but putting tint in her hair is probably evil anyway) in 60 seconds and go to the line and buy it. I’m sure Dobson, Farrakhan and their followers stand there just like I do and keep our mouths shut so we don’t get an earful and a possible whupping. But that is the logical extension of patriachal rule and it would ruin our relationships, it’s just excessive, I don’t pretend to know where the line is, but we probably agree that Warren Jeffs needs to stay in jail until God tells him he’s gone overboard. Once again, the Constitution and the Criminal Law needs to hold sway in our secular society over specific doctrines.
A lot of our religious doctrine evolved in times when people married much younger than they do now. We have to either behave for longer, or use birth control in order to grow and develop into productive citizens in a Global Marketplace. It would seem contra productive for society at large to not seek education and skills to contribute to dual income families that seem to be essential now. Unless you are a member of certain sects, you would feel oppressed by much of the more conservative doctrine, and the right doesn’t seem to be much in favor of single income families and the higher wages they might require, it’s so mixed up and confusing, but I don’t think a conservative theologian offers much to society at large by attacking Barack Obama’s Christian Faith.

FLDS vs LDS // June 25, 2008 at 12:42 pm |
Those followers of Warren Jeffs are not members of the LDS church, they are members of the FLDS. Big difference. And those boys in the white shirts with the black name tags are from the LDS chuch. The FLDS do not like outsiders and I doubt they are recruiting at the bus stop.

Yo dd, did you know that Hillary Clinton used to channel Eleanor Roosevelt using pagan seance techniques while in the White House?
I had to devolve back into Gnosticism. The Vatican, the Black Popes, and the Jesuit assassins messed up Christianity for me.
