SNL Messed Up on the Paterson Skit, It wasn’t Funny???

My understanding is you did it again, show some class and figure out who is missing the boat on your staff.

David Paterson

David Paterson

I am a great fan of SNL, what happened, the Paterson skit wasn’t even funny. As a person with visual disabilities, I found the skit sad and offensive. As a blogger that takes a lot of chances with some edgy stuff, I felt opps, that stunk!! But it’s just me out here, and you should have had someone on the staff that said “that’s not funny” there is the problem as I see it, it just wasn’t funny, Paterson isn’t that upset and I’m not going to quit being a fan, but someone should have just said “That’s not funny” Larry the Cable Guy does some stuff that is sad along certain lines but unfortunately he’s still funny, that was both sad and not funny?? The actual representation of the look Patterson has as a blind person and in general as looking like Paterson was excellent, the problem as I see it was the rest of the skit wasn’t worth the characterization of a typical blind person lack of normal eye movement, they have no reference to see how sighted people move their eyes and use their eyes expressively. So the imitation was excellent but pointless because the skit wasn’t worth the shot. The Blagojevich imitation wasn’t as good but the skit was a riot because it was funnier due to the material itself, the failure of the Patterson skit was a pointless portrayal of a  blind person’s effect, without any (or at least not enough) redeeming humor in the material?
